At Calamari, it is possible to set up calculations in 2 ways:

1) Estimate future entitlement

2) Calculate as of current day

It is also possible to set up accrue periods (one-time accrual or a cyclic accrual):

Depending on the choice of calculation and accrue periods, the accruals will be presented as follows:

Estimate future entitlement

  • in this case, the system will accrue entitlement up to the end of the possible requesting period, and the employee will be allowed to request days/hours in the future accrue based on the future accrue entitlement.

1) Accrue periods →day, week, month, quarter.

The system will show the current balance + future accrual up to the end of the possible requesting period. Employees will be able to see how many days/hours will be accrued in the future.

2) Accrue periods →annual or anniversary according to the carry-over.

The system will show the current balance up to the end of the possible requesting period. Employees will be able to see how many days/hours will be accrued upfront.

Calculate as of current day

  • in this case, the system will accrue entitlement up to the current day, and employees will be allowed to request days/hours in the future based on the entitlement already earned.

1) Accrue periods →day, week, month, quarter.

The system will show the accrued days/hours up to the current day. Employees will not see how many days will be accrued in the future.

TIP:

If you want to allow requesting in the future, make sure that the "Allow negative entitlement/taking in advance" feature is enabled with max number of days/hours, so employees will not use more days/hours than they should accrue.

2) Accrue periods →annual or anniversary according to the carry-over

The system will show the current balance up to the end of the possible requesting period. Employees will not see how many days/hours will be accrued upfront or next year.

Important!

We recommend setting "Calculate as of current year" for accrue periods shorter than a year (day, week, month, quarter)!
