What is a Performance Review session?

If your company uses the Calamari Performance module, you might be invited to partake in various performance reviews as either a manager or employee. The performance review session can be started by the Administrators or Performance Administrators on your Calamari account.

When a new session starts in Calamari, you will see it in the Review sessions tab. You will receive in-app notifications or email notifications. Learn more about notifications in Calamari: How to turn on/off personal notifications?

As a direct manager, you may need to assign your subordinates as reviewees in a peer review session. You can also add your own feedback as your subordinates' manager.

Peer review

Assign reviewers for your subordinate

Follow the instructions:

  1. Navigate to the module in the Calamari menu → Performance.

  2. Open Review sessions tab

  3. Select the review session you want to manage.
You can use filters to display:
    - active sessions
    - ended sessions.

  4. Check whether the review session includes a Peer Review column.

  5. For each subordinate, add reviewers in the Peer Review section:

Important rules about peer feedback

  • Administrators define the minimum number of peer reviewers required.

  • If you select more peers than the minimum:

    • Feedback from all assigned reviewers will be required

    • The review will not progress to the next step for the subordinate until all assigned reviewers submit their feedback.

  • Depending on the configuration of the session, the next step after Self Review and/or Peer Review is Final evaluation.

Final evaluation

Add your own feedback for your subordinate

  1. Navigate to the module in the Calamari menu → Performance.

  2. Open Feedback → To evaluate tab:

  3. Select the subordinate and click Add final evaluation.

  4. In the final evaluation panel, you can:
    - Check both self and peer feedback from the current session
    - Compare the feedback from previous sessions
    - Save your feedback as a draft and come back to it later
    - Save and send your feedback

Important rules about the final evaluation

  • Final evaluation is the direct manager's feedback.

  • Once you send the final evaluation, the employee will receive your feedback in the Feedback → Received tab. If you prefer to take your time, you can always use Save as draft option first to review thoroughly.

  • Employees will be able to read your feedback, but they won't have access to peer feedback they received:
