Calamari allows you to configure multiple types of breaks available to specific users or your entire organization. Below, you will find instructions on how to configure a break.

New break type configuration

  1. Add a break in Configuration โ†’ Breaks โ†’ Add.

Break Configuration panel in Calamari. The option to add a new break is highlighted in red.

  2. Specify the name of the break, e.g. "Lunch break".

  3. Select the break type:

    1. paid break (break time is included in the working time),

    2. unpaid break (break time will be deducted from the working time).

New break creation panel in Calamari. The screenshot shows the break type: Paid and Unpaid. The paid break type is selected.

  4. You can also limit the availability of a break for a specific team or an employee.

  5. You can also configure an automatic break.
Automatic break will start automatically, without user's action, at a specified time or after working X hours/minutes. The break will last as long as we specify in the configuration.

Screenshot of the new break configuration specifying how to automate the break. The image shows the automatic addition of a break at 12:00, which will last 30 minutes.

Employees can still manually start and stop the automatic break; they will be able to begin the break earlier or later than specified in the system. However, if they do not take action, the break will initiate automatically according to the settings.

Editing previously configured break

Editing the properties of a break that employees have already used will result in recalculating the historical work time in the Timesheet according to the new settings.

Before editing, make sure that you want to make changes retroactively โ€“ if not, we recommend deleting the break (instructions below) and configuring a new one according to the instructions above.

Deleting break

After deleting a break, employees will not be able to mark or add this type of break.

The work time that has been logged so far will remain unchanged in the records and reports.
